Project Development Principles
Our development principles for the Giffard Wind Farm are as follows:
Minimising impact on the local community (e.g. visual, acoustic, traffic)
Engaging with the community early and throughout the process
Engaging with and respecting the Traditional Owners of the land (the Gunaikurnai people)
Encouraging land diversification – renewable energy and agriculture co-existing
Being sensitive to nationally and locally protected landscapes and nature conservation areas
Ensuring the local community shares the project benefit via a Community Benefits Scheme
Buying and employing locally as much as possible
Acting considerately during construction and demonstrating ‘stewardship’ of the land for the lifetime of the project
Where appropriate, using the project as an educational opportunity
At the end of the project, returning the land to its former use
