Project Development Principles

Our development principles for the Giffard Wind Farm are as follows:

  • Minimising impact on the local community (e.g. visual, acoustic, traffic)

  • Engaging with the community early and throughout the process

  • Engaging with and respecting the Traditional Owners of the land (the Gunaikurnai people)

  • Encouraging land diversification – renewable energy and agriculture co-existing

  • Being sensitive to nationally and locally protected landscapes and nature conservation areas

  • Ensuring the local community shares the project benefit via a Community Benefits Scheme

  • Buying and employing locally as much as possible

  • Acting considerately during construction and demonstrating ‘stewardship’ of the land for the lifetime of the project

  • Where appropriate, using the project as an educational opportunity

  • At the end of the project, returning the land to its former use
